How do I test if I am using vaginal estrogen?Updated 3 months ago
The impact of vaginal estrogen on Mira results depends on the type and dose:
Low-dose vaginal estrogen (typically used for local symptoms such as vaginal atrophy or urinary discomfort) is minimally absorbed and usually does not affect serum estradiol (E2) levels. As a result, Mira’s E3G measurements are unlikely to be affected.
Systemically absorbed vaginal estrogen (such as compounded estrogen creams designed for absorption) can increase serum estradiol and may therefore be reflected as higher E3G levels with Mira. To ensure accurate results and avoid contamination of the urine sample: If you apply estrogen in the morning, test with Mira before applying.
If you apply estrogen at night, thoroughly clean the area before testing the next morning. Following these steps will help minimize the risk of false or inaccurate results.
